Welcome to Sorgente, a traditional Cornish cottage set snugly in a row of granite stone terraced cottages that ooze old world charm in the ancient town of Penryn. Our 2016 season was very popular with most weeks being booked well in advance, especially the school holiday weeks and summer. Keep an eye on our special offers for 2017.
Once a thriving port and a center for commerce, Penryn is reputed to be one of Cornwall's oldest and best surviving historic towns.
Completely refurbished ready for our first season in 2010, Sorgente (sleeps 4) combines the beauty of period features with state-of-the-art amenities such as a heat recovery system (benefiting allergy/asthma suffers) and a Pozzani water filter. New gas central heating system, solid oak flooring, double glazed traditional sash windows and thick stone walls create a timeless backdrop for a modern interior with a distinctly Mediterranean flavour, inspired by our time spent in Italy.
Overall we have tried to let as much natural light into the property, to give a fresh contemporary feel whilst not losing focus on its traditional features, character and charm with its thick stone walls and traditional sliding sash windows (double-glazed).
The spacious open plan living room is equipped with a wood burning stove and leads to the fully equipped kitchen which also serves as the dining area. It is well lit due to the large patio windows which open directly into the sunny enclosed garden... an ideal spot for a morning coffee or to read the papers, but a real sun trap at midday through to the afternoon in mid summer.
Bedrooms and bathroom
Upstairs there are a double and twin bedroom providing a high level of comfort with quality mattresses and bed linens. A luxurious Italian-styled bathroom complete with large bath, overhead rain shower and bidet, is the focal point of the second floor accommodation sat between the two bedrooms. Ideal for families, Sorgente Holiday Cottage also appeals to couples for breaks throughout the year. There is on-road parking for one car and space for surfboards, wetsuits and bicycles in the garden area.
The heat recovery system helps to meet targets of low energy consumption but also importantly keeps the home fresh and dry removing condensation and dust, ideal for those whose may have an allergy such as asthma or hay fever. It also helps prevent steamy mirrors in the bathroom. We are pleased that we are able to offer self catering accommodation more suited to asthma and allergy sufferers and therefore have a strict non-smoking, no pets policy. Sorgente does not 'suffer' from damp like so many traditional granite cottages in Cornwall, this is thanks to the heat recovery system, it is therefore not necessary to 'ventilate' the house by leaving windows open and thereby losing heat.
An excellent touring base, the secluded beaches and quaint fishing villages of the Roseland Peninsula, the lizard Peninsula and the renowned Eden Project are within easy reach.
We are sure that you will enjoy staying in our home away from home as much as we do, please leave us comments in the guest book during your stay, online in our Blog http://sorgente.incornovaglia.it, or directly with Cornish Cottage Holidays, House Trip, or Airbnb or write a review on Trip Advisor.
